The Fourth of July is typically the holiday around which many Wichita restaurant owners plan their vacations or extended breaks.

Though many of us will have to work on Monday, it might be difficult to find a place to eat out. Lots of restaurants are making this weekend a long one by closing both Monday and Tuesday. Others are taking longer breaks.

The Directorate of School Education has made a crucial statement that gives respite and delight to school kids, teachers, and staff during the blistering weather in Kashmir. According to the official notification, summer holidays have been declared for all schools in the Kashmir valley, which will begin on July 1 and run for 10 days. This summer vacation applies to all government educational institutions and accredited private schools up to higher secondary grades in the Kashmir division and Jammu division’s winter zone. Schools in Kashmir will resume on Tuesday, July 11. Children will have prolonged vacation as the summer break will fall soon after the holidays for Eid-ul-Adha, which will be observed starting on June 29.

In addition, the SED declared that the summer break will begin on June 26 for all pre-primary and primary grades in all government and private educational institutions in Kashmir.

MISSISSIPPI (WCBI) – It is one of the most popular vacation spots for people in North Mississippi and West Alabama, but there are dangers in the water from Fort Morgan to Panama City Beach.

First responders said there have been multiple drownings.

In less than two weeks, rip currents have taken the lives of at least 11 people. Data shows rip currents kill more people than tornadoes or hurricanes. Even if you are a good swimmer, you are no match for a rip current.

A popular hotspot for the Fourth of July weekend, Panama City Beach, has had emergency workers respond to 70 swimmers in distress over ten days.

Columbus Fire Search and Rescue Caption Damon Estes has been caught in a rip current before.

“Luckily, I had a flotation device with me,” Estes said. “It’s kind of nerve-racking experience you all of a sudden get swept away from the shore which is your safe zone.”

The water can look calm in one minute, but all of that can change in an instant.

“The big thing with that is paying attention to the beach flags if you’re going to the beach area,” Estes said. “They’re gonna have flags that tell you the green or obviously the red is closing the beach and stuff like just a level to be on alert. So, that’s gonna be an important aspect that’s gonna help you stay safe and know the risk of a rip current. We have to remember that drowning is a silent event. Movies make you think people are hollering and stuff, but they’re not. If you’re drowning, the last thing you’re gonna do is waste your breath. If someone is in a safe location

The World of Barbie in Santa Monica, California, is a temporary exhibition that takes people into Barbie’s world, including a real-life version of her Dreamhouse, camper van, space shuttle and TV studio. There’s also a gallery portion with vintage Barbie dolls and cars on display.

Parliament adopts law on additional payments, vacations for soldiers

The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine has adopted a law on a new system of additional payments and vacations for military personnel.

Member of Parliament from the Holos (Voice) party Yaroslav Zhelezniak said this on Telegram, Ukrinform reports.

According to him, 311 MPs voted for draft law No. 9342.

The law provides for the introduction of additional payments to conscripts in the amount of 6 000 UAH per month and to cadets – 2,350 UAH. The law keeps the provisions on the introduction of annual leave for military personnel for up to 30 days and up to 10 days for family reasons. Cadets will have up to 10 days of vacation in winter and up to 20 days in summer.

The document prohibits participation in hostilities by mobilized soldiers who have not completed a basic military training course lasting at least one month.

After the first reading, the draft law was amended to provide that wounded soldiers who were declared unfit for military service and enlisted at the disposal of their respective commanders will be paid the same amount as they received in their last positions for the first two months. Starting from the third month and until the end of the order period, additional payments will reach UAH 20.100. Prior to the amendments, the draft law provided for additional payments of UAH 12.000.

Also, the families of those killed in action will receive a one-time payment of UAH 100 000.

Seriously wounded in treatment, prisoners of war, and missing persons will receive a monthly additional remuneration of UAH 100 000.

The minimum additional payment for instructors will be UAH 15 000.
