Power outage shuts down Six Flags Great Adventure through Friday

JACKSON−Six Flags Great Adventure will remain closed through Friday due to a power outage within the amusement park, the park announced.

Utility crews worked to solve the problem throughout the morning. But Six Flags tweeted around 3 p.m. that Great Adventure was closed for the day and is expected to reopen at 10:30 a.m. Saturday.

Hurricane Harbor and Wild Safari, which are a short distance from the park, remained in operation Friday, park spokeswoman Kristin Fitzgerald said.

Chris Hoenig, spokesman for JCP&L, said the outage appears to be a problem with park-owned equipment.

“JCP&L crews have found no fault in our equipment out there,” he said.

Fitzgerald said theme park tickets for Friday were being honored at the water park. And Six Flags offered Wild Safari free to guests onsite.

Theme park tickets for Friday will also be accepted through Labor Day and Six Flags will refund any date-specific theme park admission plan, like THE FLASH Pass, she said.

Updates will be posted on the Six Flags Great Adventure website and on Twitter, Fitzgerald said.

Power outage at Six Flags Great Adventure forces park to close for day

JACKSON, N.J. — A power outage at Six Flags Great Adventure forced the park to close for the day Friday.

Chopper 2 was over the park in Jackson, New Jersey as hundreds of people waited in long lines in the heat while crews tried to fix the problem.

Employees gave out water bottles to visitors, but not everyone got one.

“They just gave us cups of ice, no water bottles,” one person said.

“Trying to stay calm and relaxed and not trying to do too much moving around,” said Kevin Rodriguez, a Newburgh Resident.

“I’m pretty disappointed. I’ve been browsing on YouTube rides at Six Flags,” said Shola Oguntunde, from Philadelphia.
